Australia Zoo

Over the course of winter break, I watched a few new TV series with my parents. One in particular was especially engaging, and that was Crickey! It’s the Irwins. This series follows Steve Irwin’s family as they navigate life running one of the biggest zoos in the world: The Australia Zoo. Each episode follows Terri, Bindi, and Robert as they explore new animals and habitats within and outside of the zoo, as they continue to protect and preserve wildlife. I have and will always be a fan of the environment and everything within it, and I thoroughly enjoyed learning from the Irwin family.

Irwin Family Circa 2004

If I could visit any single spot in the world, I would go to the Australia Zoo because of the past, present, and future it represents. The Irwin family is continuing everything that Steve Irwin began as “The Crocodile Hunter.” Not only did Steve go around exploring the natural habitats of the animals he observed, but he made himself one with the environment to emphasize the beauty of each animal. With Steve gone, his wife and children have sworn to continue his work. They are zookeeper conservationists, working to bring as many species out of endangerment as possible by informing and educating viewers on the beauty of nature’s children. I would love to experience the effects of their work.

The Australia Zoo is also a unique kind of zoo. Habitat keepers often walk around with certain animals to make the experience more real and comfortable. Visitors can pay to hangout with kangaroos, dingoes, and other animals that are more accustomed to human contact. Not only would I be touring a foreign country, but I would be familiarizing myself with its natives.
